Stress and Resilience

Introduction to stress and resilience

All UK employers have a duty to assess the risk of workplace stress to their employees. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has published Stress Management Standards which act as guidelines for organisations when considering this issue, but there are many possible approaches to actually assessing the risk of workplace stress. Robertson Cooper offers a full range of services to take the pain out of the compliance process which has been designed to deliver real performance improvement for clients.

ASSET is the UK market leading stress risk assessment tool which goes beyond compliance to highlight hotspots of stress in your organisation. It enables you to compare your results with those of other relevant organisations – this aspect is crucial because benchmarking is a key aspect of the HSE’s Stress Management Standards. After the diagnostic phase we structure strategic workshops and staff focus groups around the Management Standards areas to ensure that your intervention action plan is compliant with the HSE guidelines and to involve your staff in the design of solutions.

We also offer stress awareness and resilience training for both managers and staff – this is underpinned by Under Pressure, our pressure management e-learning package. For counselling and welfare professionals, we provide a version of ASSET which is designed for use with individuals – it includes a personalised ‘Work Well’ report which enables you to identify an individual employee’s sources of pressure, as well as the impact these have on health and commitment levels.
