Iain is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Social Ethics and Policy at the University of Manchester Law School.

A philosopher by background, his teaching and research focus on the relationship between ethics and law, particularly in the biomedical context.

A frequent contributor to media debates, he was a member of the BMA’s ethics committee between 2016 and 2018.

He is a member of a working group that has recently undertaken a major project on the ethics of big data in healthcare research on behalf of the National University of Singapore.
