Setting the Standard for Workplace Wellbeing – Achieving Platinum Accreditation

Aureos is a leading provider of infrastructure services across the UK, with a strong focus on the Energy, Rail, and Highways sectors. Formerly known as Keltbray Infrastructure Services, the company emerged as an independent entity following its acquisition from the Keltbray Group.

At the heart of Aureos’ operations and values is a strong commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing. The company places a strong emphasis on investing in its people, recognising that a skilled, supported, and motivated workforce is essential to delivering excellence. This people-first approach fosters a positive and productive working environment across all levels of the business.

In 2022, Robertson Cooper administered the Good Day at Work Assessment to employees within Keltbray Infrastructure, with the aim of establishing a baseline for employee health and wellbeing across the organisation.

Following a demerger in 2024, Aureos emerged as an independent entity, having separated from the Keltbray Group. As part of defining its new organisational identity, Aureos recognised the importance of understanding the current wellbeing landscape among its work force. This insight is required to support the development of a comprehensive, organisation-wide wellbeing strategy.

To support Aureos, Robertson Cooper once again implemented the Good Day at Work Assessment – a validated stress-risk assessment that evaluates key indicators such as workplace pressure, health and wellbeing, employee engagement, and associated business outcomes.

Upon completing the assessment, each participant received a personalised Wellbeing Snapshot Report. This report offered individual insights into their wellbeing status, identified potential sources of pressure, and recommended practical strategies to enhance and maintain positive wellbeing.

After the survey period concluded, Robertson Cooper conducted a thorough analysis of the results. Findings were presented to key stakeholders across the business through an in-depth results session. Importantly, Robertson Cooper compared the 2024 data with insights from the original 2022 assessment, highlighting key trends and shifts.

A business psychologist from Robertson Cooper led the presentation, identifying areas of improvement, outlining critical focus areas across different employee demographics, and providing strategic recommendations. This comprehensive approach equipped Aureos with the necessary insight to shape and prioritise their wellbeing initiatives effectively.

Following the Robertson Cooper survey, Aureos took a series of steps to ensure employee feedback shaped meaningful action across the business. The leadership team recognised the importance of securing buy-in to make real progress. Wellbeing is a key pillar of Aureos’ culture, and all leaders are committed to continually improving the workplace, starting with building healthy teams that feel valued and heard.

Managers received dedicated briefings to help them interpret the results and lead the development of local action plans. This approach ensured every leader was equipped to drive improvements within their teams.

Team briefings were held across all business units to share insights from the survey and gather additional feedback. These sessions helped identify local priorities and build engagement around next steps, with each team creating specific action plans. These plans were then collated across the business, and progress is monitored by each business unit leader and reported to HR as part of regular executive board meetings that track company-wide progress.

To support the implementation of these action plans and reinforce Aureos’ commitment to wellbeing, the company also arranged for its recently retired MD of Rail to visit teams across the business. The goal was to better understand specific issues or themes raised during the survey and subsequent planning. This initiative demonstrates Aureos’ dedication to ensuring employees’ voices truly matter, fostering a supportive and healthy work environment.

All survey areas scored typical or above the General Working Population benchmark.

Colleagues in the top 20% wellbeing vs. those in the bottom 20%:

  • Report being 26% more productive
  • Almost three times more likely to recommend Aureos as a place to work
  • Report half as much absence and 1/3 as much presenteeism
  • Are 7 x less likely to consider leaving Aureos

The results highlight the business value of investing in employee wellbeing. By fostering a supportive and healthy work environment, organisations can unlock higher levels of engagement, productivity, and retention. When people feel valued and supported, they’re more likely to perform at their best, speak positively about their workplace, and remain committed long term.

Aureos’ experience demonstrates that prioritising wellbeing isn’t just about improving morale — it’s a smart, strategic investment that delivers measurable results and strengthens the organisation from the inside out. Businesses that invest in their people ultimately build more resilient, high-performing teams and a culture that drives sustainable success.

Following an in-depth review of 50 organisations as part of Robertson Cooper’s Good Day at Work Certification programme, Aureos was one of only two organisations to be awarded the prestigious Platinum Standard.

The Good Day at Work Certification evaluates an organisation’s wellbeing performance by comparing its results against Robertson Cooper’s General Working Population benchmark. Aureos achieved an outstanding overall score of 93%, placing it firmly within the Platinum category.

This recognition is based on a comprehensive review of Aureos’ Good Day at Work Assessment results, alongside key business metrics and wellbeing drivers. The Platinum Standard reflects Aureos’ exceptional commitment to creating a healthy, resilient and high-performing workplace culture.

What Robertson Cooper said

It’s always a pleasure collaborating with the team at Aureos. Their genuine commitment to creating a people-first culture and a thriving work environment is truly commendable. As many organisations navigate periods of change, it’s important to regularly assess the current wellbeing climate. This requires a thorough evaluation of the workforce to identify key focus areas that can shape a comprehensive, strategic approach to employee wellbeing — one that meets the specific needs of each part of the business. Aureos’ achievement of the Platinum Good Day at Work Award is a testament to their dedication, and I look forward to continuing our partnership to support and sustain a high-performing and healthy workforce.
