Built on the values, heritage and expertise of our founders, Professor Ivan Robertson and Professor Sir Cary Cooper, we’ve been on a journey with clients and partners worldwide to deliver holistic, strategic wellbeing solutions with lasting impact. Here’s a snapshot of our history in the wellbeing and business psychology space.
At this time, the concept of wellbeing and mental health in the workplace was still in its infancy. Recognising the importance of addressing wellbeing in organisations, the founders set out to bridge the gap between academic research and practical application.
Developed by Professor Sir Cary Cooper alongside two other organisational psychologists, ASSET is an innovative way to conduct stress risk assessments within organisations. The research and findings within their paper forms the basis of the Good Day At Work assessment tools to this day.
Another innovation from the Robertson Cooper team, the Solutions platform was an online tool to support the delivery of the ASSET questionnaire, and later, Leadership Impact training. The solutions platform paved the way for the Good Day At Work platform, launched in 2019. With a second version developed in 2022, the Good Day At Work platform surpassed 100,000 users in 2023.
Ivan Robertson published an academic research paper which explores the relationship between leader personality traits and key workplace stressors. The findings of this research later form the basis of our Leadership Impact questionnaire and report.
Formerly known as the Business Wellbeing Network, The Good Day At Work Conversation was an event series that served as a platform to explore and exchange innovative ideas on workplace mental health and wellbeing. Uniting thought leaders, business professionals, and mental health advocates nationwide, the initiative ran for over 12 years until the pandemic. Notable speakers include Alistair Campbell, Robert Winston, Matthew Syed, Jonny Benjamin, David Lammy, Clarke Carlisle, John McCarthy, Adam Kay, and Matthew Taylor.
iResilience is our validated personality questionnaire and subsequent report, and is the starting point for a structured, personalised journey to self-resilience. By 2015, iResillience had 100,000 users. By 2024, the number of iResilience had surpassed 300,000 users.
Published under Palgrave Macmillan, Ivan Robertson and Cary Cooper’s book Well-being: Productivity and Happiness at Work is released to much acclaim. With Robertson Cooper’s logo proudly on the front cover of the first edition, the book offers practical guidelines to the reader on how to promote well-being, productivity and happiness at work.
Building on our success delivering solutions to global organisations and wellbeing strategies to major UK organisations, in 2015 we delivered our first global wellbeing strategy with BP Castrol. Over the last decade, global wellbeing strategies have become a part staple of our solutions following on from the success of this project.
Robertson Cooper moved their offices into the Tech Incubator within Manchester Technology Centre, a space designed to facilitate the growth of disruptive data science and innovative digital tech businesses. This is the perfect setting to ensure our Good Day at Work Platform and data analytics are robust and cutting-edge.
